Chasing a Butterfly SMI8037A film about post-Soviet Russia seen through the eyes of the filmmaker as she returns to her home town (Vladivostok, Russian Far East) after a decade of absence. Her intention… to return and resettle there.

Unusual places, characters, traditions and mentalities become a colorful and highly contrasting carousel of her welcome-home. And she comes to the realization that there is no place for her in this drastically changed country, she decides to sell her apartment and come back to New York.

The symbolic butterfly of fulfillment and happiness she was trying to find there lives neither in Russia or New York, but within.

Produced and directed by Natasha Guruleva / 86 minutes on 1 disc / Russian w/English sub-titles
