1242 Gateway To The West

DVD w/PPR available mid-December 2026. DSLs available now.

When the Great Mongolian army is about to invade Europe in 1242 it doesn’t expect that a Hungarian castle and its Priest, Eusebius will stop it.

After the Hungarian army is destroyed by the Mongol Invasion, Hungary’s fortified city of Esztergom becomes the final barrier between the forces of Genghis Kahn’s son and the heart of Europe. Inside the walls, survival depends not only on swords but on a fragile triangle of power between the Mongol command, the embattled Hungarian king, and a Vatican cardinal.

“With a budget north of $10 million and a cast spanning Hollywood to Ulaanbaatar, 1242 is Hungary’s most ambitious historical film to date.” – The Budapest Reporter.

At the center stands Eusebius, a pacifist and visionary canon, forced into uneasy alliance with Captain Simon, a battle-hardened mercenary. As siege, hunger, and doubt tighten their grip, diplomacy, faith, and betrayal collide with Mongol ritual and prophecy. What unfolds is not a battle for a fortress, but a psychological confrontation between empire, crown and church.

Stars Ray Stevenson (The Three Musketeers, Kill the Irishman), Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, Runaway Train), Michael Ironside (Scanners, Total Recall) and Bold Choimbol (Bogd Khaan).

“An epic without a lot of time on the battlefield. Some may find that attractive.” – Tina Kakadelis, The Sound View.

2025 History-War-Drama / 105 mins color / English and Mongolian with English Sub-titles / A Film by Peter Soos.

Frank Whittle: A Genius in the Family

The David-versus-Goliath story of the man who built the war winning jet engine in the face of huge opposition from the scientific community, the government and big business.

In 1937 Whittle ran the world’s first turbojet engine leading to a revolution in the way we travel – all of today’s jet engines can trace their origin to Whittle’s work.

Whittle’s invention of the turboJet marked the dawn of the dawn of the jet age.

With all the science behind Whittle’s turbojet, an engineering marvel, the fundamentals can be summed up quite simply however as “SUCK, SQUASH, BANG, BLOW”– Kerissa Khan – Former President of The Royal Aeronautical Society

“The production of FRANK WHITTLE: A GENIUS IN THE FAMILY originally set out to explore a simple question:

What is it like to have a genius in your family?

Ian Whittle’s deeply personal testimony about his memoires of his father formed the foundations of the story which we then broadened with the support of a variety of aviation experts and contributors that permitted not only a biographical presentation but also a deep look at the trajectory of Whittle’s invention.

The film took more than four years to produce, taking in locations from the across the UK. The result is that it reveals Frank Whittle as a fascinating and complex man who not only changed the world but allowed us to see what it looks like.” – Nick Horrell, Producer, Director and Writer.

The participants represent the who’s who of British Aviation History including:
